Creepy

Here is the trailer for upcoming flick The Fourth Kind, and it is extremely creepy, creepy in a way that cannot be described. Okay, if you have seen Fire in the Sky, you have an understanding of how creepy. The Fourth Kind is based on actual footage of mentally disturbed individuals who believe they were abducted by aliens, that is what an encounter of the fourth kind is, abduction. Watch the trailer, anticipate the movie's release.

Lost Planet 2 Co-Op Demo

The Lost Planet 2 co-op demo will be heading to Xbox Live Marketplace next week on August 19th, the day after Gamescom begins. That day is for Gold members only, Silver member will have access to it the following week.

The demo will have players facing off against a giant Akrid in co-op mode. This seems to follow Capcoms recent demo releases being multiplayer only in nature. While it is not a bad move, I think it hurt Bionic Commando more than it helped. Shame that, it's a great game. Snows blog has a snippet of what to expect from the demo and I put it here to read, if you want to read the whole post, head over to Capcom-Unity.

Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers around the world will be able to experience the desperate battle against the enormous G-Type Salamander Akrid boss in online, co-operative shoot outs. Utilizing a host of weapons scattered through out the arena, squads of up to four players will face off against the huge monster in an attempt to bring it down. Players can assault the Salamander in a number of ways, from shearing off its legs to actually being swallowed and fighting their way out from the inside! Superior firepower comes in many flavors, including numerous beam and projectile weapons and several Vital Suit robotic combat units that up to three players can ride at once. There are new support weapons which allow teammates to boost attack and defense abilities, while players can share life-giving thermal energy amongst injured members of their squad. Additionally, the new Dash feature allows players to sprint for short distances, bringing greater speed to combat.

The demo is likely going to stay a Xbox 360 exclusive, at least for awhile. Since the game is being shown for the first time on the PS3 at Gamescom this isn't surprising.

Singer Jumps Into BSG Movie

Battlestar Gallactica is one of those properties that gets fans all kinds of passionate when you talk about it, be it the original or the reboot. I loved the reboot, it was SciFi on the small screen at its finest. A lot of people were kind of sour with the way it end, I was kind of meh towards it. Sure it tidied everything up in a decent way but some things were just strange. But die hard BSG fans either have a reason to rejoice or get mad again because Bryan Singer has been attached to direct the new movie.

It is not clear yet whether or not this will be a completely new re-imaging of the series or if it will be something completely different. It will likely be close to what he had planned for his pilot to the TV series he wanted to do before Ron Moore got his shot to do it. Singer's version was more of a direct sequel to the '70's show, but was canned due to the large budget and it being so close to the 9/11 attacks Sci-Fi canned it.

However with Singer attached to direct it should make for a very entertaining movie. He has done great things with the properties he has taken on before, and I stand by the fact that Superman Returns did not get a fair shake, the movie was incredible. Hit Fix has the whole story so if you want to read up on it further head on over there.

The Day In Movie's

There are several awesome movie's releasing today, and they may take down GI Joe with one deft blow.

District 9(R)

The Time Traveler's Wife(PG-13)

Bandslam(PG)

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

Ponyo (Gake no ue no Ponyo) (G)

A little in there for every discerning film buff. District 9 is the movie of the weekend for me, though the wife could muscle me into The Time Travelers Wife. The Goods looks to be hilarious, but I have a Jeremy Piven bias so my opinion shouldn't count. Enjoy your weekend at the movies and let me know what you are going to see or what you did see in the comments.

'Riddick' News From Facebook

I don't know how many people like the Chronicles of Riddick movies, they did okay at the box office, enough to garner completion of the trilogy at a future date. I love the Riddick movies, both Pitch Black and Chronicles are two of my all time favorite movies, so when they finally started talking up the sequels earlier this year it's safe to say my interest was piqued.

Anyway Vin Diesel update his Facebook page with some great(and disheartening) news. He had this to say on what's going on, "The Riddick discussion is about rating now…
Though Hollywood likes their PG Ratings, the next chapter in the COR series was always envisioned as an R rating, like Pitch Black…"

A studio exec actually suggested this, "One Studio exec suggested doing both “The Underverse” and “The Furyan”, (w...orking titles) at the same time, allowing us an R rating for the first and a PG rating for the second." He also noted that Twohy's script will be ready next month!

Please don't tell me I ma the only one who thinks the studio exec should lose his job for making such a stupid suggestion. A commenter on WorstPreviews said this which I think sums it up in a funny and meaningful way:

I have an idea for a porno, it'll be a trilogy.

The first one will be softcore

The second? Super fucking hardcore (possible snuff)

The third? No porn at all.

Let them have their R rating it won't be very good without it. Can't wait to see what they say about the script next month. Keep it hear and you'll be in the know. Comments are always appreciated.

Tickets For Avatar Trailer!

The only way to see the trailer for James Camerons upcoming movie Avatar has been to be at two events, either ShoWest a few months back or more recently at ComicCon in San Diego. I oobviously could not attend either event but now you can purchase tickets to see a sixteen minute trailer in one of 101 IMAX screens across the countrywhen it starts showing on the 21st od August. You will also be able to catch the trailer in front of regular movie screenings on the same day.

I am extremely excited about this movie, being the SciFi buff that I am I will definitely be opting for the IMAX trailer(it's in 3D), and it will be before a screening of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince so it's a double win. To purchase the tickets and get more info head over to AvatarMovie.com. You can only get two tickets to prevent hoarding, so I would grab both since there is supposed to be at least one new scene shown in addition to what already has been.
